I create these Friday posts exclusively for my paid Substack members, which also includes video tea times, slow letters, seasonal book reviews and nature writing. In this post, I share my journey as a beginner artist, where I provide details on the art projects I’m currently working on, alongside material’s I’ve used and resources I’ve enjoyed.

Autumn is one of my favourite times of year to travel 🍂

One of the perks of being self-employed is that I can book time away whenever I like and, this year, I decided to take a wee solo trip down to Newton Stewart, a small town in Dumfries and Galloway (south-west Scotland).

I booked to stay here as, not only did it have plenty of coast and forests to explore, it’s also surrounded by sweet towns and villages, including being only 15 minutes from Wigtown (Scotland’s National Book Town), which is one of my favourite places in the world 📚

I vlogged my trip, so those of you that follow me over on YouTube will see what I got up to this Sunday. But today, I wanted to share how I put together a travel spread in my journal, which is one of my favourite ways to capture memories. And I hope I can demonstrate both how simple and affordable this can be!
