Good for you Molly to recognise the need to press the pause button and to have the courage to do so. Don't try to juggle too many plates, otherwise one by one they will come crashing down.
Looking forward to finding out which book has won for our seasonal book club read π π
Itβs good to take the pressure off when time is tight. This is what I like about Substack- you are in control of it. You decide what you can give to it. Itβs YOUR publication.
See you on the other side of summer, Molly. I find it such a mad time, noisy and overpacked with things with barely any space to breathe. I canβt write in summer. I get it. We will be here when you come back. I appreciate your courage and honesty with this!
We all need some breaks. We all need to take time to shift priorities at time. Please donβt feel guilt or apologetic for dropping out of this blog temporarily. Take the time you need! Your book is an important priority for you and many of us look forward to reading that when done. Maybe you and Skye need to vanish on a van trip to get some of those pesky revisions done?! I know that when I have to edit or write substantial things, I find it easier to take myself out of my usual environment and write somewhere else ie cafe, or sitting by a lake, or in a travel trailer, or at a cabin, etc. Good luck with the revisions!
Bless you for recognising overload before it happens and pulling back! And focusing on the restorative power of readingβ¦. All the best for your book revisionsβ¦π
It's great that you've recognised the need for a break. It's all too easy to keep pushing yourself when you don't want to let people down (a fault of mine) but it takes a good deal of strength to stop yourself from burning out. I'd say you've earned a nice long summer break, take time to enjoy yourself, relax and recharge. You'll know yourself when you feel ready to write again. x
Goodness! You have a lot on your plate. There are only 24 hrs in a day. It sounds like you simply do not have the time at the moment. Something had to give. I am sure you will have a huge Substack dump once your book is complete and you can breath. Take care if yourself first!
Itβs never easy to press the pause button Molly. Honouring yourself will inspire others π€

A very tempting idea!
May your creative well be replenished by this much needed break.
Enjoy your break πΈπ

Enjoy your writing wintering even I the summer. Writing as any other creative medium needs breathing space.
It's very difficult to write a book AND run a Substack at the same time - especially during the summer! Enjoy your break.

Summer is a great time for taking a pause; and so looking forward to your book!!! thanks!
I so get it, Molly!
I've been publishing my podcast episodes for more than 6 years.
There's a lot to be said for consistency; there's even more to be said for the generosity to self to take a break from the good work.
Well done & see you on the flip side!
You pour so much energy into your community, and it makes total sense to need time to recharge & prioritise. All the best!
Pause is such an important word and it makes such a difference when we take time to put it in practice. Refill your cup of wellness over Summer. X
