The evolution of my reading journal
Ideas on how to create your own bookish spreads 📚✒️
I create these Friday posts exclusively for my paid Substack members, which also includes video tea times, slow letters, seasonal book reviews and nature writing. In this post, I share my journey as a beginner artist, where I provide details on the art projects I’m currently working on, alongside material’s I’ve used and resources I’ve enjoyed.

I’ll admit, I’ve been a bit chaotic when it’s come to my reading journal.
Although I love watching creators putting spreads together on YouTube, for someone that reads approximately 6 books a month, journaling every book soon felt like a lot to keep up with.
Through trial and error, I’ve landed on a system that allows me to indulge in my creative tendencies, but prevents me from feeling overwhelmed. It’s still a work in progress, but today I thought I would share with you my latest reading journal spread (which I made for my favourite book of the year so far!) as well as some other formats that I’ve previously used, as ideas of where to start for your own reading journal.
I hope you enjoy!
